In 2010, front man Sam Watts set out to create his debut full-length album “From A Spark”.  From a small desert town in Marfa, Texas to Upstate New York, Watts crafted folk songs that tell a story of man finding his place in the world.

‘From A Spark” is nine beautifully poignant songs that highlight Watts' storytelling.  Watts becomes the conductor of a folk symphony from moody piano to delicate acoustic guitar, supporting his signature lamenting vocals.

“From A Spark” was recorded and mastered by Andy Meyer at Seesaw Studios. The album saw additions from several acclaimed local Seattle artists including; Jenna Conrad (Damien Jurardo, Pearly Gate Music), Faustine Hudson (Pearly Gate Music), Bill Patton (J. Tillman, Pearly Gate Music), Anne Marie Ruljancich (Jesse Sykes, The Shins), Seth Warren (Damien Jurardo, Red Stars Theory), Brittain Ashford (Brittain Ashford) and Ben Blankenship (Modest Mouse).

"Payphone Patience" was recorded in New York City by Brent Arnold (Modest Mouse, etc.) over the winter of 2008 and into 2009.  The players involved read like a cast of who's who:

Sam Watts
Darren Jessee of Hotel Lights, Ben Folds Five.
Brent Arnold of Modest Mouse, Built to Spill
Ben Blankenship of Modest Mouse
Anne Marie Ruljancich of Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter
Amy Bezunartea of Jennifer O'Conner
Joe Seely of Actual tigers
Michael Lerner of The Antlers
Karen Waltuch of Beth Orton

These 5 songs together forming "Payphone Patience" have echoes of depth with what could only be the faint impression of simpler times.  Almost a lament for the future being told from a past you only wished was still here.  The beauty in these tracks created by Sam Watts and his revolving cast of amazing artists is stellar and we are proud and excited to be the home for this EP and see it's official release!
